A woman, books, stories—her own story.
On February 3rd, we are delighted to welcome a guest whose career is as remarkable as it is inspiring: Sophie de Closets, publisher and CEO of Éditions Flammarion since 2022.
A graduate of the École Normale Supérieure (ENS de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud), holder of the French agrégation in History, and a graduate of Sciences Po, Sophie de Closets could have pursued an academic path. Yet she chose publishing, driven by a passion for ideas, literature, and the voices that shape their time.
She began her career at Fayard in 2004 as an editorial assistant, before becoming its director just ten years later—at barely 35 years old—establishing herself as one of the leading figures in French publishing.
Bold and visionary, she notably acquired the French publishing rights to Michelle and Barack Obama’s autobiographies in 2017. Published in 2018 and 2020, these books became major bestsellers in France, selling over 800,000 copies.
During this conversation, Sophie de Closets will take us behind the scenes of the publishing world, discuss the challenges of a rapidly evolving industry, share her editorial vision, and reveal untold stories from some of the major literary adventures that have shaped her career.
📚 An evening designed to spark curiosity, inspire, and offer a rare glimpse into the making of the books that define our time.
We look forward to welcoming you for this exclusive moment of exchange.
