We often talk about how motherhood changes our lives, but far less about how it changes our identity.
Becoming a mother profoundly transforms our relationship to time, our bodies, our work, our partnerships, our ambitions, and our sense of purpose. Motherhood also confronts us with ourselves: it awakens our personal history, reshapes our connection to our own mother, and invites us to reflect on what we wish to pass on.
Each of us experiences matrescence in our own way—that profound psychological, emotional, and existential transition that accompanies becoming a mother. Some women feel they have drifted away from themselves, while others discover new strength, clarity, and depth.
Emilie invites us to move beyond the clichés surrounding motherhood. Without framing femininity and motherhood as opposites, she explores what this experience transforms, challenges, and reveals within us: inherited expectations, invisible loyalties, maternal guilt, our relationship to work, meaning, ambition, and the desire to live in alignment with ourselves.
Drawing on her experience as a logotherapist, coach, and author of Being More Than a Mother, she approaches motherhood as an intimate, professional, existential, and identity-shaping transformation—one that can be as destabilizing as it is empowering, revealing our strength, discernment, and freedom.
This 45-minute talk will be followed by a one-hour group coaching workshop, designed as a space for reflection and renewed momentum. Together, we will explore how motherhood has changed us, what we wish to pass on, and what may now be ready to be reimagined in our lives.
