Christine Lavarde has been a Senator representing the Hauts-de-Seine department since 2017. Elected at the age of 32, she was then the youngest woman ever to serve in the French Senate.
A civil engineer specialized in bridges, water, and forestry, and a graduate of ENS Cachan, ENSAE, and the Paris School of Economics, she brings strong economic and technical expertise to public policy.
A former senior civil servant, she has worked at the Ministry of Transport, the French Energy Regulatory Commission, and the French Court of Audit. In these roles, she led missions focused on the energy transition, public-private partnerships, and the efficiency of public policies.
Elected in Boulogne-Billancourt since 2008, she has held various responsibilities in sports, finance, and security. She also serves on the territorial council of Grand Paris Seine Ouest as well as the metropolitan council of Greater Paris.
A member of the Senate Finance Committee, Chair of the Delegation for Foresight, and rapporteur of a parliamentary inquiry into the efficiency of public agencies, she works toward a more streamlined, forward-looking public action. Committed to pragmatic environmental policies, Francophonie, and international cooperation, she also chairs the France–Lebanon friendship group.
A passionate triathlete, she also volunteers as a coach, sharing the values of effort, discipline, and perseverance through sport.
